Coursework: Preliminary exercise feedback and LR
1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class.
Teacher:
- Lots to credit here – Lego stop motion is difficult! I really liked the rain and the two characters and house scene. Simply reflecting the lyrics in Lego stop motion is difficult and I think you do it pretty well here.
- The biggest issue is the wide shot/background and also the moving camera / inconsistent camera shot. These are a killer in stop-motion.
- How did you do the lightning? Everything will need to be 100% original in the final coursework.
- Will you have a performance element too – could you do a Lego stop motion band?
- Was it deliberately in 4:3 or will you use widescreen for the main production?
- Also need branding/graphic identity and footwear element.
Class:
- Cool video
- Good editing
- Matched the song
- Unique
- Needed more water
WWW:
- The overall outcome of the animation
- Narrative idea fitting well
- Editing and placed well together
EBI:
- Thunderstorm taking longer
- Rain could be clearer
- Shots could be clearer handheld
3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?
I think I completed it pretty well, the narrative came out exactly how I wanted and the animation process went smoothly. My only complaint is the lack of correct parts, if I had the right colour and set I would've been much more satisfied.
4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?
The overall way to animate stop motion Lego as before the prelim I had no clue what is was doing and now I have the ability to carry on creating side projects to build my skills so my ability to animate increases.
5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything about your actual coursework video plan? This could include your concept, cast/actors or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork or editing.
Everything in the prelim task is subject to change except for the narrative idea. Once I have the correct pieces and set ill be good to go.
